OUR CORE MANDATE
The .ZA Domain Name Authority (.ZADNA) is a not-for-profit company that administrates the .ZA namespace.
.ZADNA is the statutory regulator and manager of .ZA – the Internet country code top-level domain for South Africa. .ZADNA is mandated to:
- Administer, regulate and issue licenses in terms of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (2002).
- Comply with international best practices in administration and management of the .ZA namespace.
- License and regulate registries.
- License and regulate registrars for respective registries.
EDUCATION & AWARENESS
As part of ZADNA’s mandate, the Electronic Communications and Transaction Act 25 of 2002 stipulates that as part of functions of the Authority, ZADNA should “enhance public awareness on the economic and commercial benefits of domain name registration”.
RIGHTS & PROTECTION
ZADNA highly values the protection of intellectual property and other rights in the registration of .za names. This kind of protection means that the .za namespace can be trusted. To achieve this goal, ZADNA has an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process...
The ZAIGF is a multi-stakeholder forum of actors predominantly from the ICT sector. It was established in September 2011 for the purpose of developing a coordinated and coherent approach to dealing with Internet Governance issues in South Africa.
